Resequence the Route

PC Miler Worldwide can resequence the stops in a route, thereby optimizing trip time, cost, and distance. Let’s resequence Route 1:

  1. Close Route 2 (activate it using the Windows menu, then select Close Route from the File menu, or simply click the “X” in the upper right corner of the window to close it).

  2. Activate the Route 1 window and then duplicate it (select Duplicate Route from the File menu).

  3. Select Resequence Stops... from the Route menu.

  4. The Run route after resequencing option should be checked by default, but if it is not, click on it to select it. Route Through All should also be checked.

  5. Click OK. The stops in the Route 2 window will be reordered and the route will be recalculated.

  6. Click on the map window to bring it to the front. Notice how much the optimized route differs from the original route.

  7. Select Comparison from the Report menu.

As you can see, PC Miler Worldwide determined that the optimal route would have Paris as its destination and would stop at Bordeaux before Limoges. The resequenced route is significantly different from the version of Route 1 that we initially entered. In fact, by allowing PC Miler Worldwide to resequence this route, you saved approximately 467 kilometers and close to 6 hours of driving time, plus the additional trip costs!
